Collected Writings
My passion has always been storytelling. I love the way that stories bring us together, help us understand one another, and build relationships so that we can be partners in creating the stories that come next. In my work, I try to use words to convey my values to others, and to try to bridge the gap that is so common in our world today. This website is my opportunity to share my various writings with you, in the hopes that we can continue to learn and grow together.
From contemporary culture to ancient traditions, I try to navigate a complex world in search of the best of humanity. Sometimes we're great at building incredible things. Other times, we failed spectactularly. Either way, we have so much to learn from our reality about what it means to be a human being.
As we are taught in Pirkei Avot: "In a place without humanity, strive to be human." I hope this is a place where we can discuss, debate, and dedicate ourselves to the constant work of being the best versions of ourselves. Thank you for reading my work, and I hope you find it meaningful and engaging.

Rabbi Austin Zoot

"Surely this Instruction which I enjoin you this day is not so confounding, nor is it beyond your reach...No, this thing is very close to you, in your mouth and in your heart, to observe it."
