About Austin

I have built a career striving to create communities of Joyful Judaism. From my earliest memories at my own congregation, I have known what an incredible gift it is to have a place that makes you feel cherished, supported, and pushed to be the best version of yourself. I strive to create that space for others so that they can get creative with how to make meaning in their lives and how we can each take care of one another.

Among the many communities I have called home, I have spent over 15 summers at Union for Reform Judaism camps, including Olin-Sang Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI), Katz Camp, 6 Points Sports Academy, and Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI). I served as the North American Religious and Cultural Vice President for the North American Federation of Temple Youth as a teenager, and I have continued my work with Jewish youth in a variety of capacities, including regional mentor and communications associate for the movement. And I learned at Indiana University and the Hebrew Union College, where I brought my love for modern communications strategies to disseminating the ancient wisdom of our people.

I am now so incredibly lucky to live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and serve the Valley Temple. For six years I have served as the Rabbi Educator at Valley. In 2025, I was named the Associate Successor of the congregation, ensuring that I can call this place home for the foreseeable future.

Most importantly, I am lucky to be the husband of Dori, an incredible Jewish professional in her own right, as well as the father of an incredible, sassy, creative little girl. I am deeply devoted to my Chicago Cubs, am an avid reader, and a huge fan of my pickup truck, a 2004 Dodge Dakota. (Yes, this rabbi drives a pickup truck.)
